Joseph Antonio Rodriguez and Vicente Alvarez Travieso at San Fernando de Bexar
In the Memorial of Father Fernandez, 15 March 1741, he refutes the claims presented by the two representatives of San Fernando de Bexar, on behalf of the Islenos.
One counterpoint he provides states three citizens of San Fernando de Bexar, Miguel Nunez (deceased), Joseph Antonio Rodriguez (presidio settler) and Vicente Alvarez Travieso (Canary Islander) were all financially comfortable merchants. Being a merchant was not a common occupation amongst presidio soldiers and Canary Island farmers.
Two of the men would later become in-laws; Joseph Antonio Rodriguez and Antonia del Toro's son Francisco Xavier Rodriguez would marry Vicente Alvarez Travieso and Maria Ana Curbelo's daughter, Vicenta Candelaria Travieso.
